Located
at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, the $20 million
Koolamara Waters estate features 14.2 hectares of parkland
and wetlands which have been designed and excavated
in conjunction with Melbourne Water and the Australian
Platypus Conservancy. As Platypus naturally inhabit
the Monbulk Creek, this system of lakes and ponds was
the obvious solution as a new home for the platypus
to repopulate the creek.
Along with the wetlands
and parks, the completed estate will feature 100 homesites
ranging in size from 420m² to 940m².
Breese Pitt Dixon
was involved in the design and construction administration
of the wetlands & platypus habitat ponds in Monbulk
creek flood plain. As well as the filling of reclaimed
floodway areas to create the residential estate.
